Next Friday, November 18, 2011 we will be celebrating the 7th Edition of the LATINO DE ORO Awards Event at the West Hartford City Hall, 50 South Main St. West Hartford, CT 06107.
In that day we will be recognizing 10 outstanding individuals in the community in the categories of: Politics,
Education, Art & Culture, Health, Music, Sports, Media, Student, Lifetime Achievement and Contribution
to the Latin Community.
Except for this
last category, which may involve Latin or non-Latin people, all others categories must be of Latin origin. Since
2008 it has been incorporated to the Award Ceremony and the artistic show, the entrance trough the “Golden Carpet”,
similar to the TV Awards Events, where photographers and cameras catch the celebrities and winners of the night and the general
public that comes to join this event, making the awards ceremony a truly Latin Party. To know more details

What the LATINO DE ORO is?
It is an Award which consists
in an original designed trophy, given to 10 outstanding Latin and non-Latin individuals that has been working in the community
in 10 different categories.
Who grants the LATINO DE ORO?
IDENTIDAD LATINA Newspaper, established
in Hartford, Connecticut for 11 years are the hosts of this event. It is sponsored by individuals and companies who support
this cultural and social initiative.
What categories are awarded?
The 2011 LATINO DE ORO will be
awarded in 10 categories: Politics,
Education, Art & Culture, Health, Music, Sports, Media, Student, Lifetime Achievement and Contribution to the Latin Community.
Who could be nominated?
Any person of Hispanic origin
(except for the Contribution to
the Latin Community category, where nominees could be from any nationality) that have a good personal history and has done
a good work in favor of the Latin community could be nominated. They
have the option to nominate themselves or to be nominated for someone else.
How
you nominee and what is the deadline?
The nomination process is easy.
You must fill the Nomination Form in this page; get a copy in our offices located at 593 Farmington Ave. Harford, CT 06105 or mailing
it to the same address. It is very important to submit your application with a resume or any other documents that certifies
the achievements of the nominee. The deadline was last Friday, July 30, 2011.
How winners are chosen?
For
second consecutive year, the election is extensive and in the most democratic way as possible. Anyone can vote by internet,
for the candidate that thing deserves the Award. To do this, you may access www.latinodeoro.org (there will be 3 options by category) from August 21st up to October 21st, 2011.
When
and where winners will be awarded?
The awards ceremony will be Friday,
November 18, 2011, in a formal celebration starting at 6:00 pm at the West Hartford City
Hall, West Hartford, CT. There will be a special ceremony with a music show and the tasting of
the delicious Latin food.
